July was hot, hot, hot. Many days near or over 100 degrees here in the DC area. Despite the heat, I spent many hours working on clients and making new discoveries about the efficacy of massage therapy. As a therapist, one is sometimes perplexed by the human body and when your instinct lead you to make a profound change in a client, the reward is heart felt. I love seeing the look on the faces of my clients when they experience relief from chronic pain. I continue to study and push myself into a deeper understanding of the body. My hope is to put some of this information back into the field either through teaching or via You Tube. Stay tuned for more later.
August is vacation month and business was up and down all month. Some weeks were good but I used the slow time to take a quick trip to the beach to reconnect with Mother Nature. Whether you love beach or mountains better, nothing soothes the soul like some time near a large body of water. Because the human body is made mostly of water, I believe the connection is not merely coincidental. Plus the salt air is just revitalizing!
September marked the anniversary of my birth once again. Another year gone by and going faster all the time. I find birthdays a good time to reassess things and make sure I stay on track with my goals. So much of our lives is spent chasing a short term goal while our greater goal continues to be overlooked or put on the back burner. As a birthday gift I received Richard Freeman's new book called "The Mirror of Yoga". So far, it is just what I needed to hear from one of the wisest yogis I know of. Check it out for yourself.
Namaste,
Matthew
